When introducing a new animal to your household even a human one, it is important to think of the feelings of your only cat. Cats and dogs can be very territorial and protective. It is important for everyone's safety and mental wellbeing to make introductions slowly. You will most likely have to isolate the new animal for at least a few days. And never leave a new baby alone with an animal that is unfamiliar with him or her.
